Craft Social!

Here is a message from our local crafty girl, Dawn of Lark Studio...
Hey everyone! If you are looking for something fun to do tomorrow night (Friday 3/27) on the cheap - we are having the first BYOC Craft Social (bring your own craft) at the new JoAnn's in Midlothian from 7:00 pm - 9:00pm. The cost is $5. You will be able to play with some of the crafty gadgets I have in the classroom - Cricut machine, YUDU screen printer, Knifty Knitter to name a few. Plus just hang out and socialize with other creative folks, possibly help or get some help on your project!
You all can find me there next to the YUDU screen printer. I will be the one thinking I might need one at home! They look so fun.

A "green" bowl

I have a list that I keep with things I want to do when I am not super busy. I call it the "To Do In January List". At the top of the list is: to really homeschool my kids well. But that is not up for discussion here, at least not now!

On the list are many practical items to do, like spruce up all of my patterns. Make some new patterns (I couldn't help but start this process already, cuz I don't have enough to do!) :P Go after some new wholesale opportunities. And of course, sleep.

But, there are some fun things to do too. I want to make these bowls that I found while checking out my blog reading list. You know how it goes, you read something at one great blog and then you end up at some other cool blog to only end up some where else really fantastic. Well, I have ended up at A Little Hut a few times, what a great blog! So pretty and full of great crafty goodness. These bowls are fab! I love a good tutorial.

I can't wait, but I will try. I can see the kids and I spending a cold winter's day making these while listening to a good audio book. (after a nice long and thoughtful day of homeschooling of course.)

Special thanks to Patricia for letting me share all this with everyone.

plushy plush!

So remember that I told you that the Crafty Bastards Show was so cool and beyond busy that I could not even go shopping? Well a couple of guys made this cool Plush Toys @ Crafty Bastards video, there you can see interviews with the cool Plush artists that were selling at the show. How groovy it that?

But what is totally cool is that my crafty friend Deanna is there chatting about her Missing Monsters! She's also a fellow Richmond Craft Mafia girl.

The cool thing about Missing Monsters is that you help create your own monster. You can get a custom made monster. Now that is cool. My son asks to fill out the "missing monsters report" every other day. I have saved his "report" and I plan to surprise him with it at Christmas!

But is gets better... when your Monster has been found she takes a photo for you and send it to you. You get to see just where she found you monster at. That is my favorite part.

You can also adopt a baby monster from World of Mirth, the coolest store in Richmond! And soon you can get them on her Etsy site.

So go and find your missing monster today, it is there just waiting to be found!

For you locals you can also meet the maker at the Centerville Pumpkin Festival on October 20th 10-4. Yours truly will be there as well as many other groovy crafters!

Grown up lunch!

The other day I was honored to go out to lunch with a friend. No kids! Wow I need to do that more often. I was a real woman for about 3 hours. I was not a mom.

Allyson and I talked about our young crafty businesses, local craft shows, press releases. How nice it is to bounce ideas off each other and gain good advise. But most of all energy to go forward and do more. You can't buy that! Good crafty friends are worth more that gold!

Check out the wonderful colors in this handmade paper, soft and strong at the same time. I just realized the the photo of Allyson's studio work bench has the same coloring. How cool is that?

Angry, Bitter and Tired!

The three craft muses have had it!

Here we stand Angry, Bitter and Tired.

This was taken at the Charlottesville All Star Show last Saturday.

It's hard to peddle your wares on a black top with lonely art boy music being blared upon you. Not our best show but hey at least we had each other! On the left is the cute wonderful Erica from Bees Knee's Studio you all need some of her tiny paintings. And on the right is my new friend Nicole. She runs Soliel Rouge there you can find some fabu skirts. I really want a Bark cloth skirt! I might just order that today! You can read all about Erica and Nicole over at the Richmond Craft Mafia website. Meet the Family

Holly Hobbie and Scissor Shirts

I just couldn't help but share this moment! Maddie, tired of waiting for me to make Holly Hobby a new apron, just made her own. She did it all herself except for the cutting, I cut it out because she is a lefty.

This i my childhood Holly Hobby, she has been well loved. She not only misses her apron but her braids too. My best childhood birthday ever was my Holly Hobby Birthday, I was 10 years old. There was blizzard blazing outside but my mom still took me and my friends to The Pizza Inn. We were the only ones there big surprise!!!! My mom had a cake made in the shape of my prized doll! I was so surprised! It was one of those icing dot cakes...It's all about making a memory, thanks Mom. You can tell that I snagged this photo. Sorry.

I need to buy Maddie a proper pair of shears. That would be a good birthday gift. Yes, a sewing kit! She would be to trilled! I really need to teach both my little ones to sew this summer!

I almost forgot, speaking of shears, check out the t-shirt I ordered off esty! I can't wait!!!! I really wanted a tunic dress t... I get that when I lose all that weight I am planning of losing this summer. Very sexy stuff. I really want the yellow shirt for Don. Too fab!

circularaccessories

I really love the story behind the graphic...

"These were my grandmother's sewing scissors that I now use for everything. I have honored them with this silk screen. I drew them with lots of line detail. I hand pulled them in black ink using my table top press."

I want them all! Got that sweet hubby?

To find circularaccessories head on over to her Esty site!

She has a flickr page as well a great blog! Go check it out!!!
