Great new oilcloth...

Check out this great new paneled oilcloth, it's called Big Apple Yellow. I can't wait to make some Modern June placemats out of it, in fact cutting it's Janet's (Junie cutter of love) next job!!

Adventures in Thrifting!

It was all about the embroidery in Lakeside, my go to place for kitschy-kitchen goods.
The two new milk glass pieces were found south of the river, there was a lot more but I have to picky at this point. If you need punch cups I have got the place for you, Good Samaritan in Southside Plaza. I have to find a use for punch cups, I just can't let those cuties sit there collecting dust!

This was the find of a decade, vintage cookbooks. The exact same editions that I grew up with. Published in '67, a year before I was born.  My mother probably received them as graduation gifts. I have been looking for my own set for years and years. When I as young I used to flip through that Betty Crocker for hours, enjoying all the cool mid-century drawings of happy woman entertaining happy people. I have no doubt this helped start Modern June!!! It's all about making memories.

shopping!

A bit of shopping! My friend Suzanne well, one of my three Suzanne friends, is a great jeweler. Today she had an open house at Hunter Lange She makes quirky and fun items. Check out what I got!

The shop is really great too, tons of vintage holiday items I really wanted to buy everything! They had vintage Christmas tablecloths, vintage snowman and snow lady salt and pepper shakers! and loads of old ornaments! I wish I had my camera! I will have to go back! SOON!

I am all excited about this little number! My newest vintage apron, I needed it or it needed me! Suzanne has one like this too. She described it to me months ago, we were so excited that I was able to get it. I need some new ideas, I have an itch to have some new apron patterns. This will prove to be an inspiring apron. It will be fun to see what my version will be like!

This little number is reversible, love that!

Tale of the Green Goodess

So today I am spending a bit of time loading some of my ModernJune photo's up on Flickr As I was creating an album of some of the vintage aprons that I have sold. Well a couple of them have great stories. Here is just one of them...

This is the apron that I called the Green Goddess. It received the most hits on my ETSY site. Everyone loved this one. It was plus sized so it had to wait for the perfect owner. I have made a few version's of this. see my Modern June Originals album.

The perfect owner was also the perfect shopper. She bought 5 other aprons that day at the Market! She bought a toddler apron for a newborn baby. She was going to see Mom and babe in the Hospital that day. I love gifts like that the ones you have to wait to use. It reminds you of the special thought someone had of you babies future. VERY COOL!
