Farmers Market Flowers

Who knew that a table filled with mix-matched jars and cups and a pick up truck could make me so happy!

I ran up to the Ashland yesterday to take a peek at my old friend Wendy's new shop (opening soon) and to get some yummy baked goods from my best buddy Christi (Macshack Acres) at the Ashland Farmers Market. It's a bit of a drive but totally worth it!

Especially now that I discovered what fun I can get for $6.00. You heard me! Six buckaroos. I've seen this woman at the market for years and I've seen her flower bouquets in peoples hands, always looking so lush and beautiful. Yesterday I had some extra time so I stood in the long line for flowers and it was totally worth the wait.

She's amazing. Right there in front of you she makes an arrangement. Wandering around her vast assortment of flowers, weeds (her words, not mine) and greenery, she's a bit like a mad scientist -- in the best way possible!! She mumbled to herself, much like I do when I pattern a new product.

Aren't these amazing??? LOVE!! They will keep me good company as I take on my big accounting/inventory-palozza today. We're switching all our accounting, inventory and shipping over to Stitch Labs during the next few days I need all the eye candy I can get! Don't fret if you see the shops closed for a few days, we'll be back and running better than ever ASAP!!

days off

Saturday at the Ashland Farmers Market.

I have been jonesing for a day off for way too long. I don't remember having one in August or July. Not unless you count travel days, no those do not count! Well Saturday was a full day, yesterday was a half day off. Today turned out to be a day off too. Too bad I will pay for it tomorrow, gotta sew, sew, sew.

So let's recap the weekend! Saturday was a girl date with Christie at the Ashland Farmers Market. Then I headed over to the Richmond Craft Mafia Retreat for sun, fun and food! I did some work on Sunday morning but then headed out to see Ponyo at Movieland. Don and I spent the rest of the afternoon napping. We all made our own dinner whenever we were hungry, nice! I read all evening while cuddled up with the kids while they watched their tweenie-bopper shows.

I woke up today intending a to clean a bit for my sons birthday party on Wednesday but it turned out to be a full day of de-cluttering and heavy duty cleaning. It was great! Man, without a day off in 6-7 weeks you can imagine my house sorely needed the attention.

Ahhhhh, balance! Ok, now for emails and convo's before bed. Night, peeps!

15 minute Farmers Market

15 minute Farmers Market, originally uploaded by ModernJune.

I promised the kids I would not dilly-dally at yesterdays farmers market and I aim to please! Even though the place was packed with my crafty peeps I kept my promise!

So far I have enjoyed a wonderful BLT and the most wonderful open faced tomato sammie. Whole-Wheat Toast, tomato, cheese and oregano broiled to golden goodness!

Tonight we are having sautéed squash from our garden and tomorrow we grill eggplant and fresh corn! Then we will make salsa with Amy's salsa basket ingredients. How fun!

I LOVE summer!

the past

Vintage aprons, market totes and memory boards.

I forgot I sold some re-pro signs too!
There are also some notebooks that a friend used to make.

One of the craziest things I made was yoga mat totes, that was a silly thing I did for a friend.

Maddie and I, wow she is so little!

I just had to share these with you! I have spent the last few hours getting some photos for my Modern June SALE section and I came across these! Check out the shops sale section for great deals! More things will be added daily.

farmers market

I've got my apron on, the music turned up and I am all alone! Tonight we celebrate Aidan's 8th birthday by having dinner with the Macomber's at the pool. My house smells great. Loads of fresh veggies and herbs are being prepared.

There is nothing like a fresh food market. I am ashamed to say that I have not been to one all summer. Shameful! Here are some wonderful pics that Maddie and I took today at the Lakeside Farmers Market.

Note to self: MUST DO THIS EVERY WEEK

It's Farmers Market Time!!!

I only have one problem with farmers markets season, with so many great ones who will win my loyalty? My first love is the 17 St. Fresh Market, after all that is the birth place of Modern June. The Byrd House Market is so lovely and charming. But now there is another to toy with my affections... Lakeside Farmers Market. One could almost hit a market every day of the week here in the Richmond area. Ok, that is so cool. Gas prices being what they are I think the Lakeside Market will win out, plus it is new and I can visit my favorite Lakeside shop, Feathernesters. Lunch al fresco and the market? Yep, that sounds great!
