The Oilcloth Ornament Collection by Modern June

It doesn't get more retro that this... oilcloth, vintage ornaments and good old crafty goodness. Modern June is taking oilcloth to an exciting new level. Appliqué! The ornament is made up of coordinating oilcloths and applied to the red polka dot oilcloth. The collection features red and aqua polka dots. Perfect for that cool retro Christmas!
Aren't they pretty? I am so in love with this collection! I really think it is something special. They are lots of hard work but totally worth it! The elves and I are up to the job!

Spring Flower Apron
spring flowers 1, originally uploaded by ModernJune.
Yesterday I had to take a creative break and make something that I didn't have to make. Something new and exciting, something fresh. A few weeks ago I was at my local Joanne's and I saw this fabric across the store. It was a total impulse purchase, it called out to me, BUY ME! So I obeyed. I had no idea what I would do with it or if I would ever do anything with it. I haven't done a gathered apron yet, gathers are not my favorite thing to do but it needed to be. I have left the center front of the apron smooth so it will flatter the body. It is just a happy little apron!

wish me luck

Today I entered a contest for aprons! Craftzine.com is having an apron contest...
We know there are lots of wonderful homemade aprons out there, and we want to see them. Taunton books has generously offered a copy of Prairie Girl to each of the five winners, and we'll be featuring the aprons in the Curio section of the next issue of CRAFT. Send photographs of the aprons you've been working on to curio[at]craftzine[dot]com by November 12th. (Be sure to include your website or Etsy shop!)
Now I have never one a single thing, well 50 bucks on my 24th birthday but that is it. So I am not really expecting much. But it is fun to wish! Right?
This aprons claim to fame is an appearance on TLC's LA Ink. I also find it too cute that people usually buy this for the best friends birthday. Once I had a man have me overnight it to his girlfriend, also a birthday gift. It is all about connecting with people and making them happy. An apron has that ability by its very nature.

Owls and Bunnies oh my!

How very cute is this apron? Shelley, over at Glittery Blue, sent me this fabric so I could make here a show apron! The fabric is imported from Japan. Too fun for words! It was quite the designers challange she had only purcased two fat quarters of each fabric. That did not really work with my existing apron patterns that I have created. Then i had the great idea to use my latest vintage inspired pattern. I patterned it this summer. The pattern doesn't even have a name yet! I have only used it for Strawberry Fields Exclusive Apron, the aprons made from the Cupcake fabric. I am loving my JOB!

Etsy Front Page!

Wow!! Look there is my blue oilcloth "lace" apron on the home page of Etsy. I did not even get to see it. But my groovy friend Tasha did this screen shoot for me. That is so cool! Tasha you rock! My first etsy home page, wahoo!

My feelings exactly!
I wish I got a better shot of this lovely painting. I really love it! It matches my mood this week. I didn't even get the artist's name.
Our neighborhood has several new places to haunt. Today we went to a great new restaurant, The Northside Grill. This place has been lovingly gutted and completely remodeled. The food is well priced and the kids love it. Good for me! And the best part is we can walk there -- it doesn't get better than that! For a much better idea of what to expect, check out this blog entry about the NSG over at River City Food and Wine. A blog that just so happened to mention my Modern June aprons found at House of Lukaya. Thanks for the shout out!
cupcakes galore!
