You've been missing these, haven't you? I've been getting loads of emails wondering where our oilcloth party banners went! Well there are back and they are even better! They are now longer and have more flags per pennant, 14 to be exact. You can now write out Happy Birthday on just one of our Chalkcloth™ and Oilcloth banners.
Turquoise for my studio walls was a clear favorite with you all. I wasn't so sure until I throw up a piece of fabric up on the wall to see it with the beech book shelves. It's great, I am sure I'll love it! But before I go out shopping for paint I knew I needed to get my fabrics purchased. I need fabric for roman shades and to line the book shelves that will be under the cutting table and on the wall.
Here's what I purchased for the Roman Shades, it's a sweet Bark Cloth! I bought it from Teaworks Cottage on Etsy (of course). The listing refers to it as Aqua, I may need to flexible on the wall color, we'll have to wait and see!
I also picked up some Chenille bedspread cuts, these are all odd pieces that I'll use for some wall art pieces. LOVE!!! I got the first two pieces from Alora's Adorables and the last one is from Chenille Bliss! (heaven)
Who knows what these two lovelies will become, sometimes you just have to buy them and wait for inspiration to hit ya. I got the quilt piece from Chenille Bliss (at 4 bucks, it need me) and the vintage feed sack from Kimmy Made.
So what about those shelves I want to line? Oilcloth to the rescue! After all, I am the Oilcloth Addict! I like the juxtaposition of mixing oilcloth with bark cloth, chenille, and feed sack material. It's all from the same era but not used in the same part of the house! Fun, right?
They're baaaaccck... oilcloth coin purses are back. They were always such a hit so we asked our dear ol' Junie, Anne Margret, to come back and whip up some zippers for us. (you see, I don't do zippers) Our zipper queen admitted that she was a bit burnt out after zipping up 100 coin purses in August. We sold more than half of them at the Country Living Fairs but we've got plenty left of the holidays.
Think girlfriends, stockings and office mates when you think oilcloth coin purses! Go with an appliqued or a simple oilcloth print, either way the girls on your gift list will love one!
Did you hear the great news? I will be a guest speaker at the Atlanta Country Living Fair, on Sunday October 24th. I will be chatting about how to use oilcloth to decorate the home, "Oilcloth for the Modern Home" will start at noon, see ya at the Main Stage!
In preparation for my next show, I have purchased some old sign letters to make a mix and matched June sign!!! It's going to be a great show, they are expecting over 20,000 visitors and I tell you it's the place to be if you like shop for handmade goods and vintage loot. Not to mention the great eats!!!
Have a look at the video from the Ohio show, featuring my friends Twist Style and Chick Picks. You'll also see the ispriation behind my purchases, the Home Girl booth was to die for! I regret not buying the letters from her, but we were so busy in our own booth by the time I got a chance to go shopping they were GONE! But a few Etsy purchases later and I am good to go! Creative ARTifacts and Releigh Modern hooked me up.
My baby turned 10 last week! I don't know how it happened but sure enough it did!!! Here are a few pics from his VIVA PINATA party...
I am not even going to pretend to know the name of this character, but I believe he's a hedge hog pinata! (I am sure my DH and blog editor, Don, will supply you all with a link!) But, what I can tell you is that this is a wonderful cake made by our dearest friend, Aunt Sqz! Viva Pinata!
I do know that these rice crispy treats from heaven are called Goombaa's! I know this because I kept calling them something else and since the birthday boy is nothing if not a perfectionist, I was sternly corrected many times!!! Aren't the cool? Suzanne had used rice crispy treats to change the shape of the teddy bear cake to the "hedge hog" character and at the last minute whipped these cuties out.
Don ordered two alligator pinatas online and then made tricked them out so that we had two Cocodile Pinatas. Why two? It's a Viva Pinata game thing, the red sour characters are evil, I am guessing it due to too much sugar. Aidan insisted that we loaded each one up with the right kind of candy, one with sweet candies and the other was sour. You've gotta love what you can do with a can of spray paint and some electrical tape.
Don and Maddie printed out and then colored in this poster of the Chewnicorn for a fun game of "pin the horn on the Chewnicorn."
For party favors, I kept it super simple, a frisbee for playing in the park! I also found some random party stuff in the attic for the kids to enjoy. I am afraid the horns we a bit overwhelming for the other people at the park, the kids created HORN TAG (don't ask!) and were very very loud! For the tables I layered my Modern June oilcloth tablecloths with an oilcloth splat mat to get a fun layered look!
I like giving each party guest a personalized bag so they can keep track of their pinata candy, so I simply made a label in Pages that included the Viva Pinata logo, the kids names and then printed it out on label paper.
Here's a fun story for you! I just finished three sets of oilcloth placemats for a wonderful customer--the woman wrote to tell me that they are gifts. She's heading away with some good friends for a Girl's Weekend, and that she's surprising them each with a set of my placemats! I'll tell you what, nothing makes me happier than knowing where my wares are headed off to--it makes all the hard work of running a small company worth while!
Thanks, and hugs and kisses to all of you that support Modern June--you all rock my world!
Check out our fun fruity oilcloths, they are just perfect for summer. Think pillows for the garden chairs, a tote for the farmers market, or a great new tablecloth for the kitchen or the patio!
It's been a long time since I added any new oilcloth prints to the shop, way too long! I figure who better to help me than you all, my loyal blog readers. Here is what I am thinking, the shop needs some more floral and fruit prints and maybe a strip or two. Take a look and let me know what you like...
I have been wanting to carry one of the mum prints for some time now, which color do you like best?
Since spring and summer are coming, I want some more fruity patterns. Which print do you like best? Well talk color later!

teapots and fruit
doilies and fruit
I have wanted to get some strips in the shop as well, I want all of these! Which blue is better, light or dark?
Thanks for your help. I want to order soon so leave me a comment today!
