Today's the day!

originally uploaded by tashamck.

Today we will spend another beautiful day in Stone Mountain Park at the Country Living Fair here in Atlanta, GA. We have had such an incredible reception from the wonderful Country Living readers, everyone knows exactly what oilcloth is and they've been buying up the oilcloth goodness right and left. We have nearly sold out of our oilcloth yardage, totes and several other items. It's been amazing, we figure that we sold about 150-175 yards of oilcloth of Friday and another 40 yards yesterday. We don't have much left so if you coming today shop early!!!

I can't tell you how nice everyone is, I haven't stopped smiling for 3 days!  The shoppers, the Stella Show staff, the Country editors and CL licensing department couldn't be more supportive!!! Thank you to everyone that made my weekend so incredible! I couldn't do this with out ya!!!

If your at the fair today come and see my "Oilcloth for the Modern Home" presentation today at 12! I'll be chatting about why oilcloth holds such a fond place in our memories and how we can use it in our modern lives. I'll also walk you through how to make a no-sew tablecloth!  See you on the Country Living Main Stage!

lunch and a movie

We have been taking turns being sick. Its Aidan's turn now. To comfort him we are having lunch and a movie today. The movie is Kiki's Delivery Service, and it makes me so endlessly happy. It was the movie that Maddie and I watched everyday after Aidan was born. Those endless days of recovery, nursing, and laying low. I have this great memory of the three of us cuddled up on the couch watching it over and over again. So, here we are again, Aidan in his jammies, Maddie doting on him, and me watching us make great memories!

The Brocante Home

Recently, I had a meeting with my lawyer and at the end of our meeting she told me about a community of UK women that are living the vintage life right here and now. She said I just had to check it out, "that it was so Modern June." Well, today I think I might have finally found these ladies!

Quite by accident I found this, Aprons For A Bachelor Girl, at The Brocante Home. What I loved about this poem the most was that "She's coloured the walls an eggshell blue" (so very chic right now, especially in my bedroom) and that she has "put the oilcloth down." Now how Modern June is that? LOVE IT.

At craft shows I often find myself describing what oilcloth is, and it's history. For many older women it is a treasured flashback. A flood of memories, their childhoods, their Grandmothers or a sorely missed Aunt. What they see is the kitchen table laid with a freshly cut oilcloth tablecloth. I am so lucky I get a chance share in these most happy memories and perchance a great story or two.

Here at Modern June this is what we strive for each and everyday, to help families and the bachelor girl create new and special memories! I just love my job!
