There are 28 days to Thanksgiving Day and I need help. We need to talk turkey! I don't know about you but this fact really shocked me on Monday as I was flipping through Bon Appetite in a doctors waiting room. One of my favorite things to so is to gaze at the delicious recipes in all the glossy magazines but truth be told I am not the worlds best cook and my family is so picky that even if I could pull it off no one would eat it. So I don't have to worry about what to cook for thanksgiving, plain and simple food is all that is required. But give me a tablescape to plan I am golden!
This year I am for sure using my new Chalk Cloth Table Runner, at 72" it now hangs over the edge of my dining room table but once I put the table leaves in it will make a nice long centerpiece for a casual or elegant Turkey Day Dinner.
That about a new oilcloth tablecloth just for me, hmmmm? Lime Dots would be fun and would work well with my Fiesta Ware and the upcoming Christmas season decor as well. Or, I could go a bit more elegant and make a Brown Lace Tablecloth, this way I could bring down my mother in-laws china!
So, I need help deciding, fun lime dots or elegant brown lace oilcloth? Please leave a comment with your choice. And don't forget it isn't too late to order your own custom tablecloth, deadline is November 1st!
We will be taking 15% off all of our Oilcloth Tablecloths now through Monday. Check out Modern June's full array of shapes and sizes at our Etsy shop. Round, Square, Oval and Oblong! The are great for special occasions and every day fun. I can see us using this for school too! Think of how great this would be forcookie exchanges, buffets or a drink bar. I really want to have a grown up dinner party and use it as centerpiece my guests doodling through dinner would be a blast! I tell you the possibilities are endless!
The runner is 14 inches wide, so there is plenty of room to scribble on! This listing is for a medium sized table up to 72 inches long. Need it bigger for the holiday dinner just ask for quote!

You know what I love about Twitter is the endless source of crafty goodness. You really can't see every cool thing there is in "blogland" but if you follow really cool people like Sister Diane, of Crafty Pod fame, you miss a lot less!
The other day I was not willing to work on my Modern June projects, I was bored and I wanted - no needed - something new to do, something to re-ignite my crafty flame. Thanks so Sister Diane's RT of Molly Chickens Fabric Pom Poms I was in business.
With in minutes my son and I went to ripping fabric, cutting out cardboard donuts and making ourselves some giant pom poms. Now, Aidan is nine years old so he opted leave a long string on his pom pom so he has swing it around like a weapon. (heavy sigh) Boys!
Thanks so my crafty support team and twitter I am now happily back on track. You just can beat good inspiration or time well spent crafting with your children.
I can't bear it, I missed another Quilt Market. I know, I know I don't - and never will - quilt but I do love me some pretty fabric! I've made myself a promise to get to a Quilt Market. So for now I am checking all the sweet tweets on the subject, and may oh my we are talking serious eye candy!
My new go to blog, Stop Staring and Start Sewing, has some rocking photos! I "borrowed" her picture of the luscious Heather Bailey booth. I am so crushing on the new line of hers! Hmmm, I might just need some of that for the spring line! Ahhh, it's not even Halloween and I am dreaming of spring. Crazy.
Look at how blue that sky was, it was a perfect day! Last week we had a chance to head out to the new - and much improved - Virginia State Fair. After months and months of endless work I finally got a day with the family, this day was the first day off I had had in a very long time As you can see we were very happy to be soaking up the sun and riding the rides!
Handmade Nation, the new documentary about the indie crafts/DIY movement is going to be showing at the Naro in Norfolk, VA. The screening is at 5:15pm on Saturday, October 24th.
Tasha, Suzanne and I were lucky enough to get to see Handmade Nation in August in Philly while I was at the Buyer's Market of American Craft. I also got to meet the director Faythe Levine and get a copy of Handmade Nation the book autographed by her. The Richmond Craft Mafia's founding date and our indie craft show Spring Bada-Bing are mentioned in the indie craft timeline in the book.
