Birthday fun!

Well, I did it again. I turned 39 for the 4th year running. I know what your thinking, but it's true. Ask my kids they'll tell you. I had a great birthday this year. It started out on Friday night when I got home and found a new lamp in my bedroom--that man of mine really pays attention! Then on Saturday I got these two new books from the kids. (Somehow they ended up on the hubbies Amazon wish list, weird huh?)

For lunch I choose one of the few places that makes the whole family happy, Noodles & Company. I roll with a pretty picky gang. so I love this place. I get good food, and they get plain food. Look at these handy chopstick holders that kept us all very happy while we waited for out food.

This one looks a little skeptical about the chop sticks actually working... that's my boy, always thinking!

Just in case you didn't understand plain food, its nothing but noodles and salt. The chopsticks did jazz it up, don't you think?

One of the other great reasons I chose Noodle & Co. was that it was in close proximity to Quilting Adventures. I sent Don and the kids to the comic shop so I could buy a little birthday fabric. I am sneaky, aren't I? I just had to go back for another round of fat quarters for more Betty aprons. I love these Robert Kaufman prints.

 I didn't see these last week, but what the heck, right? Love me some fruity goodness.

After I met back up with the fam, we headed off to Movieland to see Gnomeo and Juliet in 3D. It was the perfect Saturday afternoon movie. So funny and so darn cute! I have to say it's as good as Shrek and The Incredibles, and I could see them 100 times. Oh wait, I have seen them 100 times. Silly me. 

We spent the rest of the night cuddled up watching a Cupcake Wars marathon--it was almost as good as eating real cupcakes.

It takes a team of incredibly talented people to write a sewing book, but I am not so sure that this is the help I need with my patterns for the book.

So we went to see Gnomeo and Juliet yesterday for my birthday and  loved it!

My very sweet husband brought home flowers for me last night, just some sweet little flowers for a sweet little memory. He first told me he loved me 18 years and 1 day ago! Isn't he adorable for remembering that?

I dropped off a few new aprons at Strawberry Fields today. If you live in Richmond, VA and you haven't check out this Fan District shop and florist your missing out. While I was there I took a few snapshots of Deanna's inspirational shop, I figured you could use a pretty-fix too!

Calender year!

I know it's already February, but I've just gotten my 2011 calendar up! This is my second Claudia Pearson tea towel, and I love them! This one was a Christmas gift from one of my dear friends and Junie stitcher extraordinaire, Nicole of Nicole Lee Designs.

 

I hope the talented illustrator doesn't mind that I took some time and pimped this one out a bit. All week I've been playing with specialty cuts for the quilting industry. I've been letting the creative process flow so I can see what I come up with. I pieced the strips together and came up with this...

I took the striped cloth that I made and used part of it to trim out my (already cool) calendar. I've gotten a few other ideas this week, and I'll show those off once I perfect them.

I just snagged a bunch of fabric from one of the co-ops that I belong to. I am so excited about cutting into it soon. I love the 30's feel to the retro prints. I'm thinking aprons, napkins and tea towels! What do you think?

A quick cotton fix!

 Long coveted 20's and 30's cotton prints! What am I going to do this these 2" strips and 5" squares you ask? Hell if I know! Play experiment and grow.

 A few fat quarters that are delightfully summery. Just what I long for in the dead of winter!

 

So, I made this little displayed yesterday morning and 4 hours later I grabbed the Jelly Roll and started playing around. More on that tomorrow.... 

Treasury Tuesday: The chicken or the egg?

I was recently asked to join a new Etsy Street Team called Beautiful Home. The groups mission is to create Etsy treasury's featuring great all the great loot that could help us make our homes more lovely. It's very interesting how wide a range the design aesthetic has been so far. Shabby Chic, modern eclectic, country charm points of view have been expressed.
